The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Foundation—the philanthropic arm of the AGD—is strongly committed to raising awareness of oral cancer. The AGD Foundation is on a mission to educate AGD members and the public about the importance of oral cancer screenings.
Oral cancer is the sixth most common form of cancer worldwide and nearly 60,000 Americans and Canadians will be diagnosed this year alone. Oral cancer is particularly dangerous because it can go unnoticed in its preliminary stages. Early detection is key, and in many cases, a dentist often is the first health care provider to identify early signs and symptoms. For this reason, we believe the general dentist is the public’s first line of defense against this deadly disease.
