J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center, Outpatient Dental Clinic

Mission Statement

The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center will maintain an outpatient dental clinic to ensure access to comprehensive quality dental care for persons with developmental disabilities otherwise unable to obtain dental treatment. The Clinic will emphasize access to oral health care services and treatment methodologies that utilize least restrictive techniques.

Eligibility

Those individuals are eligible who have a developmental disability and reside in Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Henderson, Iredell, Lincoln, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Watauga, Wilkes or Yancey Counties, former residents of JIRDC and former Dental Clinic outpatients. It is anticipated that patients will have North Carolina Medicaid or private dental insurance.

Location

The clinic is located at the north end of the campus of the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center, 300 Enola Road, Morganton, NC (just south of Exit 104 on Interstate 40).

Directions

Traveling East on Interstate 40: From Interstate 40 Exit 104 (Enola Road). Turn right at the light which is Enola Road. Approximately 0.1 miles on the right you will see the entrance to JIRDC. Turn right into the JIRDC campus and stay to the right for 0.3 miles. Turn left into the parking lot at the sign that says DIAGNOSTIC CLINIC, DENTAL CLINIC, ETC. There are marked VISITOR parking spaces to the right.

Traveling West on Interstate 40: From Interstate 40 Exit 104 (Enola Road). Turn left at the light and proceed down Enola Road. Approximately 0.1 miles on the right you will see the entrance to JIRDC. Turn right into the JIRDC campus and stay to the right for 0.3 miles. Turn left into the parking lot at the sign that says DIAGNOSTIC CLINIC, DENTAL CLINIC, ETC. There are marked VISITOR parking spaces to the right.

Professional Staff

Luzette Anderson, CDA is the Outpatient Dental Clinic Administrator. Care is provided by Dr. Richard Chapin, Dr. Stephen McHatton, Denise Medford, RDH (dental hygienist), certified dental assistants, Vanda Abee and Luzette Anderson and trainer Lori Norville.
